About Me

Attorney Karen Kenner Scott is a seasoned legal professional with a concentration in real estate transactions and litigation, as well as business and corporate matters. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the esteemed University of Georgia in 2009, followed by her Juris Doctor from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School in 2012.

Prior to founding The Scott Law Firm, Attorney Scott served at Williams Teusink, where she continued her tradition of excellence in legal advocacy. Earlier in her career, she gained invaluable experience as an Assistant Solicitor General in both Fulton and DeKalb County. In DeKalb, she served as a Deputy Chief Assistant Solicitor General, skillfully leading her unit to achieve successful prosecutions in numerous land use, zoning, and code enforcement cases.

Attorney Scott’s exceptional legal prowess has earned her several notable accolades, including the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys Scholarship and the National Black Law Students Association Rodney Pulliam Scholarship. Her outstanding contributions to the legal field have been recognized through the Rising Star Award from the New Rock Legal Society and the prestigious Michael Hancock Award from the DeKalb Lawyers Association. Additionally, her unwavering dedication to community service has been acknowledged through her receipt of the Dean’s Award on five separate occasions.

A dedicated advocate for women in law, Attorney Scott is an active member of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA) and the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers (GAWL). In 2018, she was selected for the Emerging Leaders of DeKalb program, and in 2023, she was chosen for GABWA’s Judicial Public Official Academy. Most recently, she was selected to participate in the 2024 GAWL Leadership Academy, further solidifying her commitment to leadership and professional growth.

Beyond her legal practice, Attorney Scott is deeply committed to serving her community. She actively engages in various roles at her children’s school, including serving on the School Council, and takes great pride in her membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She also serves as a board member for the nonprofit organization More Than Conquerors, Incorporated.

Attorney Scott finds equal fulfillment in her personal life as a devoted wife to Roderick Scott and a proud mother of two exceptional young girls.
